The Wyoming Cowboys, coming off a strong 53-7 victory in their season-opening win over Appalachian State, will travel to College Station, Texas, Saturday, Sept. 11 to face the Aggies of Texas A&M. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1:30 p.m., Mountain time (2:30 p.m., Central time).
For Texas A&M, the Cowboys will be the second consecutive opponent from the Mountain West Conference. A&M opened its season on Thursday, Sept. 2 in Salt Lake City, Utah, against Utah. The Utes won that contest 41-21.
Wyoming enjoyed success in all phases of the game versus Appalachian State. Wyoming's defense forced five turnovers, three interceptions and two fumbles, and held the Mountaineers to only 30 yards rushing and 200 passing. On offense, the Cowboys displayed a balanced attack with 266 rushing yards and 271 passing for 537 yards of total offense. Wyoming scored three TDs rushing and two through the air, while turning the ball over only once on a fumble. Sophomore wide receiver Dustin Pleasant had a career day, catching seven passes for 140 yards, including touchdown receptions of 34 and 55 yards. The Cowboy special teams blocked two ASU punts, with one being returned by sophomore cornerback Derrick Martin for a six-yard touchdown. Also on special teams, place-kicker Deric Yaussi had the best day of his career, converting field goals of 45, 47 and 29 yards and hitting six of six extra points. The 47-yard field goal was a personal best for Yaussi.
Saturday's game at Texas A&M is being televised by Fox Sports Net. In the state of Wyoming, the game will be carried on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain. As with all Cowboy games, the Cowboy Sports Network will broadcast the game on its 25 affiliates beginning with the pregame show one hour before kickoff.
