For the second consecutive week, the Wyoming Cowboys will face a Top-5 ranked team when they host the No. 3 ranked Boise State Broncos on Saturday in a game that will kick off at 6 p.m.
A week ago, Wyoming played the Texas Longhorns in Austin, Texas, losing to UT by a score of 34-7. Texas was ranked No. 4 in last week's USA Today Coaches' Poll and No. 5 in the Associated Press Media Poll. Boise State is ranked No. 3 in both of this week's national polls.
This is the first time in history that Wyoming has played two Top-5 ranked teams in consecutive weeks.
A year ago, the Wyoming Cowboys hosted the two highest ranked opponents to play in War Memorial Stadium, but those two games were not played in consecutive weeks. Wyoming played the then No. 2 ranked Texas Longhorns on Sept. 12, 2009, in Laramie and later in the 2009 season UW hosted the then No. 4 ranked TCU Horned Frogs on Nov. 21, 2009. UW lost to Texas by a score of 41-10, and lost to TCU by a final of 45-10.
Wyoming's last victory over a Top 25 ranked team came on Oct. 26, 2002, when the Cowboys defeated No. 22 ranked Air Force by a score of 34-26 in Laramie.
When No. 3 ranked Boise State visits War Memorial Stadium this Saturday, it will represent the second highest ranked team to play in Laramie. The No. 2 ranked Texas Longhorns in 2009 remain the highest ranked team to face the Wyoming Cowboys in Laramie.
