LARAMIE, Wyo. - The start of the Nevada-Wyoming football game wasdelayed Saturday because the Nevada team bus became stuck behind a 12-carpileup about 10 miles from Laramie.
The team had stayed in Cheyenne, 50 miles east of Laramie, on Friday night, and left at 3:15 p.m. Saturday but did not arrive at War Memorial Stadium until6:40 p.m., 20 minutes before the scheduled kickoff.
"The last 10 miles was pretty tough," said Jamie Klund, Nevada's directorof media services. "The team's in pretty good spirits about it and you've justgot to roll with the punches."
Officials pushed kickoff back to 8:07 p.m.
Some highways in and out of Laramie were closed periodically throughout theday because of a winter-like storm that dropped several inches of snow.
On Oct. 6, 1984, a game between San Diego State and Wyoming was delayedseveral hours because of a storm that closed the highway between Cheyenne andLaramie, forcing the visitors' bus on a 120-mile detour into Colorado.
San Diego State won the game in an upset, 21-0.
