Wyoming to Open Stadium Gates Early for Colorado State Game

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

With a large crowd expected, and an increase in security do to the recent tragic events,University of Wyoming Athletics Director Lee Moon said Tuesday that Cowboy fans should plan on arriving at War Memorial Stadium earlierthan usual for Saturday's big game between Colorado State and Wyoming.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., and gates will open earlier than usual, at 11 a.m. The game will not be televised. Saturday is designated as Hallof Fame and Family Weekend. The Hall of Fame Class of 2001 will be introduced at halftime.

"To insure the safety of our fans and teams, additional security measures will be instituted beginning with Saturday's game," Moonsaid. "Backpacks, bags and coolers will not be allowed in the stadium," he continued, "but items such as purses and diaper bags will beallowed, but will be searched."

Moon said there will be additional security throughout the stadium.

According to Randy Welniak, UW's director of marketing and promotions, Saturday's game will be a special day. The first 15,000 fansentering the War Memorial Stadium gates will receive a red, white and blue pom-pom to honor America. The first 5,000 fans to enter will receiveAmerican flag face decals, donated by the Brown and Gold Outlet. A special pre-game ceremony is scheduled involving both teams, and thebands from both schools In addition the University will introduce its new mascot.
