LARAMIE, Wyo. - Keith Boyea (Air Force), Leo Caires(Wyoming) and Troy Mason (UNLV) were named Mountain West ConferencePlayers of the Week following Week Seven action. Boyea was namedOffensive Player of the Week, Caires takes Defensive honors and Masonreceives Special Teams recognition. Mason earns the honor for the secondtime in his career and first this season, while Caires and Boyea are namedfor the first time.
MWC Defensive Player of the Week
Leo Caires, Wyoming, LB, Senior
Leo Caires registered 17 tackles in Wyoming's loss to Air Force. Caires was credited with seven solo stops, in addition to a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a sack. Wyoming scored on its first play following the fumble recovery to tie the score at seven.
MWC Offensive Player of the Week
Keith Boyea, Air Force, QB, Senior
Air Force senior quarterback Keith Boyea recorded career highs in rushing and passing in the Falcons win over Wyoming. Boyea rushed for 196 yards, while throwing for 168 and one touchdown. He amassed 364 yards of total offense, the most by a Falcon since 1988. He also caught a pass for 24 yards.
MWC Special Teams Player of the Week
Troy Mason, UNLV, PR, Junior
In UNLV's win over San Diego State, Troy Mason returned three punts for 114 yards. He returned his first punt of the game 57 yards to the SDSU 18-yard line leading to a UNLV touchdown. On the final play of the first half, Mason returned a punt 52 yards for his second career return for touchdown and a 31-3 UNLV lead.
