Bradlee Van Pelt (Colorado State), Gabriel Fulbright (New Mexico) and Deric Yaussi (Wyoming) were named Mountain West Conference Players of the Week following Week Eight action. Van Pelt claims Offensive Player of the Week, Fulbright takes Defensive honors and Yaussi receives Special Teams recognition. Van Pelt wins the award for the second time this season and third of his career (2002), while Fulbright and Yaussi are recognized for the first time in their careers.
MWC Offensive Player of the Week
Bradlee Van Pelt, Colorado State, QB, Senior
Colorado State quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt totaled 383 yards in the Rams win over Air Force. The senior signal-caller threw for 258 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 125 yards and two scores. Van Pelt accounted for 68 percent of CSU's 564 total yards. With his performance, Van Pelt tied the Colorado State single-season touchdowns responsible for mark (20) and moved to the top of the career list (52).
MWC Defensive Player of the Week
Gabriel Fulbright, New Mexico, CB, Sophomore
Sophomore cornerback Garbriel Fulbright tied a Mountain West record with three interceptions in leading New Mexico to victory at San Diego State. All three of his interceptions occurred in the end zone, thwarting SDSU scoring drives. His first pick came with the Aztecs at the Lobo 6-yardline with UNM protecting a 7-0 first-quarter lead. Following a third-quarter New Mexico fumble at its 15, Fulbright snagged his second pick in the end zone and returned it 27 yards to preserve a 27-7 advantage. His final INT came on a second-and-10 at the UNM 20 midway through the fourth-quarter.
MWC Special Teams Player of the Week
Deric Yaussi, Wyoming, PK, Sophomore
All of Wyoming's offensive points in its 13-10 win over BYU came off the foot of sophomore placekicker Deric Yaussi. He hit on a pair of career longs from 42 and 43 yards out in helping to stake the Cowboys to a 13-0 first-half lead.
