LARAMIE, Wyo. - On Monday, Wyoming sophomore quarterback Brett Smith was recognized by College Football Performance Awards for his play last Saturday in a 28-23 road win over New Mexico. He threw for a career high 374 passing yards and accounted for 396 yards of total offense against the Lobos. He also threw four touchdown passes in the game.
Smith was one of only nine FBS quarterbacks in the nation honored this week. He was one of eight Honorable Mention selections. This week's honored quarterbacks were: Quarterback Performer of the Week: Marcus Mariota (Oregon); Honorable Mention QBs of the Week: Brett Smith (Wyoming), David Ash (Texas), Michael Rocco (Virginia), James Franklin (Missouri), Tyler Bray (Tennessee), Devin Gardner (Michigan), Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M), David Fales (San Jose State)
This is the second consecutive week and third time this season that Smith has been honored by College Football Performance Awards as one of the top QBs in the country. He was also honored for his games at Idaho and versus Colorado State.
