LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The semifinalists for the 2005 Biletnikoff Award, honoring the nation's best receiver, have been announced by the Biletnikoff Award Committee and University of Wyoming senior wide receiver Jovon Bouknight is one of only 15 semifinalists selected.
Bouknight is currently ranked nationally in six different NCAA statistical categories, including being ranked No. 9 in the nation in total receiving yards this season with 973. The Denver, Colo., native has one college game remaining -- at San Diego State this coming Saturday, Nov. 19.
Among active NCAA Division IA receivers, Bouknight ranks No. 3 in the NCAA in career receptions, grabbing 236 during his four-year career. He also has 3,483 career receiving yards to rank No. 4 among all active receivers. Bouknight's 29 career touchdown receptions ranks No. 3 among current players, and his 5,687 all-purpose yards also ranks him No. 3 among all active Division IA football players.
He has caught at least one pass in 46 consecutive games. That streak ranks No. 2 among active players.
Wyoming has a great history of outstanding receivers. In 1996, former Wyoming Cowboy All-America receiver Marcus Harris was selected as the 1996 Biletnikoff Award winner.
