Laramie, Wyo. -

Athlete of the Week

Clayton Kirven

This weekend the Cowboys travel to play CSU in Fort Collins and this will be your last time to play against them. If you could have the perfect ending to your college career what would it be?
To be able to bring the Bronze Boot home to Laramie.

How would you sum up your time on the Cowboy Football team?
It's been fun. I have a lot of great memories from my five years with this team.

What are your plans after college?
I plan on taking a semester off, then probably go to grad school and get my masters.

What does it mean to you to play at UW when you are from the state of Wyoming?
I feel honored to play for UW and being one of only a handful of kids on the team from Wyoming. It means a lot to me to be able to play in front of my home state.

What three TV channels do you watch the most?
I would say ESPN, The Discovery Channel, and FX strictly for Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

If you had to choose between playing one NFL game and one million dollars, which would you choose?
That's a tough one. I would like to have both, but if I had to choose I would say one NFL game cause that is a once in a life time experience.

What is your favorite thing about growing up in Wyoming?
I would say being able to go do things outside. I like spending my time away from football hunting and fishing.

What has been your favorite memory of Cowboy Football?
I have a lot of great ones, but my favorite is by far beating Tennessee back in 2008. I was my first experience on the big-time college stage.

If you could go head to head with any professional defensive end, who would it be? Why?I would choose Jared Allen from the Vikings, because he is considered one of the best and I would like to see how I would hold up against him.

How would you describe the smell of your locker room after a game?
Smells like victory.

What can you tell us about what happens at the bottom of the pile?
It can be chaotic, especially after a fumble but most of the time nothing too bad.

Who has been your toughest opponent personally that you have had to go up against in your college career? Why?
I would have to say Jerry Hughes from TCU. Just his speed and athletic ability made it hard to play against him.

In your five years here, you have had the opportunity to play with many different guys, who would you say was the best Cowboy Football player? Why?
I'm going to show some support for the offensive line and say Kyle Howard was the best that I have been around, because he was such a great athlete for being an offensive linemen.

What is your all time favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Gladiator with Russell Crowe.

What would you like to say to all the fans of Cowboy Football?
Thanks for all of your support throughout the last five years.
