University of Wyoming senior wide reciever Jovon Bouknight was named to the First Team All-Mountain West Conference squad on Monday in voting by the nine MWC head football coaches and media members covering each of the nine schools.
Bouknight concluded the 2005 season leading the Mountain West Conference in receiving yards, averaging 101.5 yards per game. He also was the MWC leader in all-purpose yards, averaging 160.5 yards per game, and he ranked No. 2 in kickoff returns, averaging 27.8 yards per return.
The Denver native ranked among the Top 15 players in the nation in each of those three categories. He ranked No. 7 in the nation in receiving yards, No. 10 in all-purpose yards and No. 11 in kickoff returns. Bouknight also ranked No. 11 in the country and No. 2 in the MWC in receptions, averaging 7.00 catches per game. Bouknight was Wyoming's only First Team selection. He also earned Second Team All-MWC honors as a kick returner.
Fellow Cowboy senior Dusty Hoffschneider earned Second Team All-MWC honors for the second consecutive season. Hoffschneider, a noseguard, concluded the 2005 season with 54 tackles to rank fifth on the Cowboy squad. He led all Wyoming defensive linemen in tackles. Hoffschneider also recorded 6.5 tackles for losses from his noseguard position.
