LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
The UCLA football team has been selected to play in the 2004 Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl. The Bruins will face Wyoming of the Mountain West Conference. The game is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 23 at UNLV's Sam Boyd Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. (PST) and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
The Bruins finished the regular season with a record of 6-5 overall and were tied for fifth place in the Pac-10 (4-4). Wyoming is also 6-5 and finished fourth (tied) in the Mountain West Conference (3-4).
"We are happy to be participating in the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl, said Karl Dorrell, UCLA Head Football Coach. "It's my understanding that the players enjoyed their experience in 2002 and we are looking forward to the trip and the contest against Wyoming."
"We are delighted to welcome back UCLA as they bring a strong football tradition to the bowl game," said Tina Kunzer-Murphy, Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl Executive Director. "They played USC extremely tough in their season finale and the Pac-10 Conference continues to display great national recognition."
UCLA played in the Las Vegas Bowl in 2002, defeating New Mexico, 27-13.
UCLA and Wyoming have never met on the football field.
