University of Wyoming Completes 2011 Football Schedule with the Addition of Texas State

Dec. 7, 2010

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming has completed its 2011 football schedule by adding Texas State to its home schedule for next season. Texas State will visit War Memorial Stadium on Sept. 10.

With the changes in the Mountain West Conference and other conferences that have taken place this past year, Wyoming needed to find another non-conference game to fill out its 2011 schedule. The contract between Wyoming and Texas State calls for the Cowboys to travel to San Marcos, Texas, to face the Bobcats on Sept. 28, 2013.

Texas State, currently an NCAA Football Championship Subdivision school, is transitioning up to the Football Bowl Subdivision level and is scheduled to join the Western Athletic Conference for the 2012-13 season -- the year prior to hosting the Cowboys.

"I'm very happy that we were able to complete our 2011 schedule so quickly, and am thrilled that we were able to fill it with another home game," said University of Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman.

"The 2011 schedule will also feature a highly-anticipated game versus Nebraska here in Laramie on Sept. 24, which I expect will be the biggest game we've had here in War Memorial Stadium, even surpassing the visit by the University of Texas in 2009."

In addition to Nebraska's appearance on Sept. 24 of next season and Texas State's on Sept. 10, the other non-conference home game for the Cowboys will feature Weber State to open the season on Sept. 3. Non-conference road games will include trips to Bowling Green, of the Mid-American Conference, on Sept. 17 and a road trip to Utah State, of the WAC, on Oct. 8.

While the Mountain West Conference schedule won't be released until the spring of 2011, the home opponents for the Cowboys will include current No. 3 ranked TCU, the New Mexico Lobos and the UNLV Rebels.

For fans interested in assuring themselves a ticket to next season's Nebraska game, $100 deposits for 2011 season tickets are now being taken by the UW Athletics Ticket Office.
