Wyoming's Eddie Yarbrough Honored as an Honorable Mention Sophomore All-American

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Campus Insiders/CollegeFootballNews.com has selected Wyoming's Eddie Yarbrough to its 2013 Sophomore All-America Team, it was announced on Friday. Yarbrough was named an Honorable Mention Sophomore All-American. Earlier this week, he was named First Team All-Mountain West Conference as selected by MW head coaches and media.

Yarbrough led all Mountain West defensive linemen in tackles (7.4 tackles per game) this season. His 89 total tackles were 22 more than any other MW defensive lineman this season. Yarbrough tied for No. 5 in the conference and No. 74 in the nation in fumbles recovered, averaging 0.17 per game (two total). He ranked No. 6 in the Mountain West in quarterback sacks, averaging 0.54 per game (6.5 total sacks). Yarbrough also was among the league leaders in tackles for loss, ranking eighth, with 12.0 total tackles for loss (1.00 per game). He ranked 20th in the Mountain West in tackles for all players at all positions (7.4 tackles per game ).

His 12.0 tackles for loss this season ranked as the sixth best single-season in Wyoming school history. Yarbrough's 3.5 tackles for loss versus Idaho tied for the seventh best single-game performance in UW history with John Fletcher (vs. UNLV 2007) and Zach Morris (vs. San Diego St. 2004). Yarbrough also had3.0 sacks against Idaho, tying him for the fifth best single-game performance in school history with 16 other Cowboys.

His 18.0 career tackles for loss places him only one away from entering the Top 10 in school history as he enters his junior season of 2014.

A native of Aurora, Colo., Yarbrough became only the second Wyoming sophomore in Mountain West history to earn First Team All-Conference honors. The only other Cowboy sophomore to be named First Team All-Mountain West was wide receiver Ryan McGuffey in 2001.

Yarbrough recorded two double-figure tackles games during the 2013 season. His best game was a 13-tackle performance versus then No. 18 ranked Nebraska in the season opener. He also registered 11 tackles at Boise State. Yarbrough had nine tackles against Idaho and San Jose State, and recorded eight tackles at Air Force, at Texas State and versus Colorado State. His two fumble recoveries came against Idaho and at Utah State, where he returned a fumble 41 yards before being tackled inside the 10-yard line. He also forced two fumbles, had one pass breakup and blocked one kick during the 2013 season.
