Cowboys Conclude Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

The University of Wyoming men's golf team finished play at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Sunday in Palm Desert, Calif. The Cowboys tallied a 924 (+60) for 22nd place in the 24-team field after rounds of 303 (+15), 311 (+23) and 310 (+22) on the Classic Club course.

"This was a great event and great experience for my young guys," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "I'm pleased with my group. We went out and played hard and there were some mistakes out there, but it was a real good group effort."

Freshman Glenn Workman led the Pokes, as he tied for 66th place with a scorecard of 277 (+11) after shooting 74 (+2), 77 (+5) and finishing with a 76 (+4). Sophomore Ryan Wallen tied for 93rd place with a final tally of 233 (+17) after two rounds of 77 (+5) and a final round of 79 (+7). Freshman Drew McCullough recorded rounds of 75 (+3), 82 (+10) and 78 (+6) tying for 104th place. Fellow freshman Quintin Pope, tied for 110th place, tallying a 236 (+20). Redshirt Freshman Arron Lickteig wrapped up the day for the Pokes with a 237 (+21) tied for 115th place. Senior Cameron Lindell, golfing as an individual, finished with a score of 265 (+49) for 127th place.

TCU took the team victory with a total of 855 (-9) after the three rounds, second was Texas Tech at 856 (-8) and in third was Denver at 857 (-7). Texas Tech's Clement Sordet won the individual title with a final score of 205 (-11).

"I'm very excited for this young group, but we need to be a little better next week because it will a premium field of teams," Jensen added.

The Cowboys return to action at the Arizona National Invitational Tournament on Saturday for a three-day tournament in Tucson, Ariz.
