UW played without its No. 1 player, senior David Hearn, who did notcompete due to an injured wrist.

"Jake (Hunter) really put together two outstanding rounds," saidWyoming men's golf coach Roger Prenzlow. "This tournament featured a numberof the top teams in the country. We shot an even-par round as a team in thefinal round and didn't make a move up or down -- so it is evident howcompetitive the field was.

"I felt like the guys really got their games going on Friday. Wehaven't had any opportunity to practice outside this spring, and it hasshowed in our first two tournaments. But it was encouraging to see usimprove by six strokes from the first to the second round, and improve byanother five shots from the second to third rounds.

"We don't like finishing 16th, but playing against a field like thiswithout our number one player (David Hearn), I thought the guys reallycompeted. That final round should give us some confidence heading into theremainder of the spring schedule."

In addition to Hunter's 30th-place showing, junior Mike Urbatchkafinished in a tie for 51st with UW freshman Mike Mezei at five-over par 221.Cowboy sophomore Kurt Kowaluk was a shot back at 222 to place 57th, andsenior Kevin Kayden shot a 12-over par total of 228 to finish in a tie for81st.
