Cowboys in Fourth after Day One of the Bob Sitton Invitational

The University of Wyoming men’s golf team opened play at the Bob Sitton Invitational on Tuesday morning in Dallas, Texas. The Pokes shot a first round score of 296 (+12) on the opening day of the 54-hole tournament. UW is in fourth place of the 17-team field, which is being held at the par 71, 6,676-yard TPC Four Seasons golf course. Senior Kamrin Allen leads the Cowboys with a first round score of 72 (+1). Allen sits tied for seventh place of the 102-man field.

“We played well today,” Wyoming head coach Joe Jensen said. “This is a tough course with different conditions than we are used to seeing.”

Junior Ryan Wallen was also steady in the first round, as he shot a 73 (+2) and is tied for 11th. Sophomore Arron Lickteig carded a 75 (+4) in the first round to put him in a tie for 33rd. Right behind Lickteig is sophomore Drew McCullough as he fired a first round of 76 (+5) and is tied 40th. Sophomore Glenn Workman rounds out the scorecard for the Pokes with an 82 (+11).

Sophomore Quintin Pope is playing as an individual. He also tallied a first round score of 76 (+5) to tie for 40th after the first round.

Angelo Leyvani of Stephen F. Austin and Daniel Chian of Long Beach State have a two-stroke lead over Bradley’s Drake Bushong. Leyvani and Chian fired a 67 (-4), while Bushong carded a 69 (-2). Long Beach State is currently the team leader with a 585 (+1), with Stephen F. Austin two-shots behind for second place.

“This is a PGA golf course,” Jensen added. “We are just getting our feet underneath us and we still have two more rounds to go.”
