DALLAS, Texas -
The University of Wyoming men’s golf team remains in fourth after the second round of the Bob Sitton Invitational at the TPC Four Seasons golf course in Dallas, Texas. UW fired a second round score of 297 (+13) on Tuesday, and are trailing Central Arkansas by only one stroke. Sophomore Drew McCullough led the Cowboys on day two, carding a 71 (E). McCullough is now tied for 15th place in the 102-man field.
“Today was a rough day,” Wyoming head coach Joe Jensen said. “This is an incredibly hard course and the guys are playing tough.”
Junior Ryan Wallen followed McCullough’s performance with a second round score of 73 (+2), and now has a combined score of 146 (+4) to be tied for 11th. Sophomore Glenn Workman carded a 75 (+4) to shoot the third-best score of the day for the Cowboys. He now has a total score of 157 (+15) and is tied for 70th. Sophomore Arron Lickteig and Senior Kamrin Allen round out the scorers for the Pokes as they tallied second-round scores of 78 (+7) and 79 (+8), respectively. Lickteig is now tied 46th while Allen is tied for 34th.
Sophomore Quintin Pope is playing as an individual. He shot a second-round score of 79 (+8) and has a two round total of 155 (+13) to be tied for 61st place.
Angelo Leyvani of Stephen F. Austin leads the field with a total of 141 (-1). He is followed by Daniel Chian of Long Beach State and Bradley’s Drake Bushing by only one stroke. Long Beach State remains the team leader after round two with a team total of 573 (+5). Stephen F. Austin trails the 49ers with a team total of 586 (+18) for second place.
“We have one more round to go,” Jensen added. “Tomorrow we are going to come out and play hard to finish this tournament on a good note. We are still in contention for a spot in the top three, so we need to play well tomorrow and make that happen.”
The Bob Sitton Invitational will conclude tomorrow. The last round is set to start at 8:00 a.m. MT with live scoring available at birdiefire.com.
