Cowboys 15th After First Day of Cowboy Classic

The University of Wyoming men's golf team concluded the first two rounds of the Cowboy Classic on Monday at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz. The Cowboys are in 15th place in the 18-team field with a total 582 (+6). Wyoming shot a first and second round total of 291 (+8). Redshirt freshman Arron Lickteig achieved a new career low after firing a 70 (-2), tying him for 40th in the 100-man field.

"For the most part I am pleased with how the kids played today," UW head coach Joe Jensen. "This is a very good field and we are six over par as a team for two rounds, which for this young group is solid playing. We are going to go out tomorrow, play hard and continue to grow as a team."

Freshman Glenn Workman leads the way with a two rounds of 73 (+1) and 75 (+3). He is tied for 46th place. Sophomore Ryan Wallen and freshman Drew McCullough tied for 56th with final tallies of 145 (+1). Junior Kamrin Allen shot a 73 (+1) and 77 (+5), placing him in tied at 82nd place. Freshman Quintin Pope finished out the day for the Pokes with a carded score of 151 (+7) and tied for 84th.

Lickteig, golfing as an individual, fired rounds of 70 (-2) and 73 (+1), he is tied for 40th place. Senior Cameron Lindell, also golfing as an individual, ended the day with a 161 (+17) for 100th place.

UC Davis took the lead of the teams with a two-round score of 556 (-20). Colorado's David Oraee and UC Davis's Mike Brockington are tied for first in the pack of individuals after the first day at a tally of 136 (-8).
