COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The University of Wyoming men's golf team posted a score of 549 (+18) in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational's opening two rounds Saturday. The Cowboys sit tied for 13th in the 16-team field after shooting 296 (+8) in the morning and 298 (+10) in the afternoon on the Blue Course of the Eisenhower Golf Club.
"I'm very proud of how this young group did and I feel positive being just a few strokes back of these other teams," Wyoming Head Coach Joe Jensen. "I would like to catch some of these teams. We just need to come out and have a good round tomorrow."
Sophomore Ryan Wallen and freshman Glenn Workman were UW's top finishers on the day as both shot 145 (+1) and sit tied for 26th in the 88-man field. Allen carded 73 (+1) for round one and 72 (E) for the second. Workman shot a 70 (-2) and 75 (+3) to finish the day.
Freshman Drew McCullough concluded the day at 152 (+8) and is tied for 62nd, while freshman Quintin Pope is tied for 74th at 154 (+10). Junior Kamrin Allen rounds out UW's top five at 157 (+13) for 81st. Senior Cameron Lindell, playing as an individual, is tied for 43rd with a total of 149 (+5).The tournament wraps up with a final round Sunday at 7:15 a.m. MT.
