University of Wyoming sophomore Mike Mezei shot a final round 80 on Tuesday and finished in a tiefor 17th place at the Nebraska Fairway Club Invitational.
Mezei led the tournament after the first day with rounds of 75 and 68. His final round 80 gave him a 54-hole total of 10-over par 223 tofinish 17th out of 62 competitiors. The Wyoming Cowboys placed 10th in the 11-team field with a final three-round score of 936. LamarUniversity won the two-day event with a team score of 873. Lamar's Shawn Stefani won the individual title with a two-over par total of 215.
The tournament was played on the Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb. The course measured 6,762 yards and played to a par of 71.
This was the first competition of the 2001 fall season for the Cowboy golf team.
