The University of Wyoming men's golf team turned in a stellar score of 288 (E) during Sunday’s final round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite. The Cowboys finished the tournament on the Eisenhower Golf Club-Blue Course with a score of 863 (-1) to earn third-place. The Cowboys were paced by sophomore Drew McCullough, tallying a score of two under-par to tie for 12th-place.
“Today was very solid,” Cowboy golf head coach Joe Jensen said. “I am very pleased that we played well throughout both days.”
Junior Ryan Wallen followed McCullough, tying for 18th-place, with a score of 217 (+1). Wallen finished the tournament shooting a 72 (E). Sophomore Quintin Pope finished the tournament at 218 (+2), as he tied for 21st-place. Senior Kamrin Allen finished his day with a score of 71 (-1), tying him for 29th. He also tallied the lowest score for the Cowboys in Sunday’s round. Sophomore Glenn Workman also finished tied for 29th with a score of 220 (+4). Sophomore Arron Lickteig and freshman John Murdock finish out the day for the Pokes finishing with scores of 227 (+11) and 228 (+12), respectively.
UW shot a team score of 863 (-1) to end the tournament. The Cowboys finished behind Colorado State (-15) and Colorado (-12). Wyoming out-played Weber State and UTEP round out the top-five as they ended in fourth-place and fifth-place, respectively.
“It is a good start to the year,” Jensen added. “We played three sophomores and everyone played well.”
Wyoming will tee off again on Monday, Sept. 21, in Ft. Collins, Colorado for the Ram Masters Invitational.
