Wyoming Men's Golf Ninth at the Falcon Invitational

The University of Wyoming men'sgolf team shot a 10-over par, 298 in the first round of the FalconInvitational, hosted by the Air Force Academy. The Cowboys currently standin ninth place.

Wyoming senior Kurt Kowaluk shot a 2-under par 70 and stands in sixth placeafter the first day of competion. He is only two shots back of the leadersheading into the second round of the tournament. This strong start comesafter posting two top ten finishes last week.

As for the rest of the Cowboys, Matthew Brunk shot a 3-over par 75, JasonAichele shot a 4-over par 76, Neil King shot a 5-over par 77 and JonathanShuss shot a 7-over par 79.

"We played pretty average," stated men's golf coach Joe Jensen. "We are ayoung team, and we have a lot to improve on, but we aren't playing to bad atall. With the experience that our young guys are receiving we are onlygoing to get better. We are playing on a very tough course and I feel wewere pretty much up to the task. We just need to keep improving every day."

The second round of the tournament will tee off Saturday and the Cowboyswill have the opportunity to claw away at the leaderboard. Kowaluk willalso have the chance to compete for the individual title.
