Returning to competition for thefirst time in 10 days, the University of Wyoming men's golf team shot atwo-round total of 608 on Friday and finished in a tie for 16th place atthe William H. Tucker Intercollegiate.
Cowboy senior Mike Urbatchka led all Wyoming golfers after shooting a75 and 74 for a two round total of 149. Urbatchka sits in a tie for36th place heading into the final round of competition on Saturday.
"Our freshman guys really got introduced to a major college tournamenttoday and I feel they did a great job," said Wyoming head golf coachRoger Prenzlow. "As soon as they get their legs under them and get alittle more comfortable playing at this level we will be a good teamagain. It seems like this team needs to play just one good round to getthem on track."
Host school New Mexico is leading the team standings with a total of572. Southeastern Louisiana University's Andy Smith is leading theindividual standings with a score of 139.
The tournament is being played at the University of New MexicoChampionships Course in Albuquerque, N.M. The course measures 7,253yards and play to a par of 72.
The Pokes will conclude the tournament on Saturday with one final roundof play.
