Wyoming Opens Play at William H. Tucker Intercollegiate

Junior Kamrin Allen shot a 70 (-2) for the morning round and 75 (+3) to lead the University of Wyoming men's golf team on the opening day of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Friday. Wyoming is tied for 10th place in the 15-team field after the first two rounds at the UNM Championship Course. Wyoming carded 598 (+22) on the day with rounds of 296 (+8) and 302 (+14).

"This tournament has an amazing field of athletes to play against and a very difficult course," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "We are competing out there and just need to play a solid third round tomorrow. All in all, its solid, we are a young team that's growing and learning."

Allen finished his day at 145 (+1) and is tied for 17th and his round of 70 (E) was the best round he has played at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate. Freshman Quintin Pope is tied for 34th place after rounds of 75 (+3) and 73 (+1), ending with 148 (+4). Freshman Glenn Workman is tied for 73rd place and carded a 155 (+11) with rounds of 77 (+5) and 78 (+6). Sophomore Ryan Wallen wrapped up with a round of 74 (+2) and 85 (+13) for a 159 (+15). Freshman Drew McCullough rounded out the day tied for 90th with a 76 (+4) and an 85 (+13).

New Mexico leads the tournament after the first two rounds at 554 (-22). San Diego State sits in second place at 569 (-7). New Mexico's Gavin Green has the individual lead at 135 (-9).

The Cowboys will play the final round tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
