Cowboy Golf in Fourth Place After Day One at the Cowboy Southern Dunes

The University of Wyoming men's golf team sits in fourth place with rounds of 288 (E) and 289 (+1) to score a two-round total 577 (+1) on the first day of the Cowboy Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Ariz. With the final round to be played in the morning, UW will look to win its first tournament of the year.

The Cowboys were led by Senior Kamrin Allen who fired rounds of 72 (E) and 70 (-2) to finish the day with a 142 (-2). He currently is tied for ninth. Junior Ryan Wallen is tied for 11th place after shooting rounds of 71 (-1) and 72 (E), giving him a total of 143 (-1) to end day one. Quintin Pope tallied a 69 (-3) and 75 (+3) to place him tied for 14th after two rounds of play. Sophomores Drew McCullough and Glenn Workman rounded out the lineup for Wyoming as they ended play at 149 (+5) and 150 (+6), respectively.

"The guys played well today," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "They put themselves in a good position to win tomorrow. There is a tough field here so we have to stay focused and play well tomorrow."

Sophomore Arron Lickteig and freshman John Murdock are playing as individuals. Lickteig scored an impressive 142 (-2) to put himself tied for ninth place. Murdock ended his day with a 152 (+8).

Idaho sits in first place after turning in a score of 572 (-4). San Francisco ended play in second place at 573 (-3). Grand Canyon finished day one in third place with a 575 (-1). CSU-Fullerton rounds out the top five at 578 (+2).

Idaho’s Rylee lacolucci leads the field of 54 golfers, as he fired rounds of 68 (-4) and 68 (-4) to end day one with a 136 (-8).

The tournament will conclude with one more 18-hole round tomorrow. There will be a shotgun start with tee time at 9 a.m. MT.
