The University of Wyoming men's golf team sits in a tight race tied for third-place after the first two-rounds of the inaugural Cowboy Southern Dunes Invitational at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz. In the 8-team field, the Pokes currently sit tied for third place at 588 (+12). Junior Kamrin Allen leads UW with a two-round total of 142 (-2). He is tied for seventh in the 49-man field.

"We have a good field of quality teams bunched up after the first day," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "We struggled in the morning round, but this young group is very competitive and we are going to go out tomorrow and compete."

Wyoming shot a score of 299 (+11) to put them in seventh after the morning round. Allen led the way in the first round with a 71 (-1). Freshman Glenn Workman was just three strokes behind with a score of 74 (+2), while fellow freshman Drew McCullough shot a 76 (+4). Sophomore Ryan Wallen recorded a 78 (+6) and freshman Quintin Pope carded an 80 (+8).

"I'm really proud of how my guys came back in the afternoon and caught some teams. It should be a very good and tight tournament until the bitter end," Jensen added.

The Pokes recorded a 289 (+1) in the second round, it was the fourth-lowest score on the day. Allen was Wyoming's top finisher shooting a 71 (-1). Workman tied his career-best with a 70 (-2) in the second round and is tied for 12th. Wallen shot a 71 (-1) for total of 149 (+5) and is tied 24th place. McCullough carded a 153 (+9) and is tied for 33rd. Pope is tied for 39th with a total tally of 157 (+13).

Senior Cameron Lindell, golfing as an individual, shot rounds of 72 (E) and 76 (+4) and currently sit in a tie for 24th place. Redshirt freshman Arron Lickteig, also golfing as an individual, recorded a 154 (+10), as he is tied for 35th.

Arizona State's Mathias Schjoelberg and Idaho's Jared du Toit lead the Cowboy Southern Dunes Invitational individually with a tally of 137 (-7). Idaho sits in first place after firing rounds of 285 (-3) and 281 (-7) for a total of 566 (-10). San Francisco sits in second with a 587 (+11). Wyoming is tied for third with Nebraska and UC Santa Barbara with a tally of 588 (+12).

The Cowboy Southern Dunes Invitational will continue Sunday with a final 18-hole round with a shotgun start slated for 8:30 a.m. MT.
