Reno, Nev. - The University of Wyomingmen's golf team finished the second round of the Ernst F.Lied Wolfpack Classic in Reno, Nev. in 13th place with atwo-round team score of 587. Wichita State leads the 18 teamfield with a two-round total of 564.
Cowboy sophomore Eric Baily is currently one-over par witha score of 145, and is in a seven-way tie for 32nd place.The Crofton, Neb. native shot a first round even par scoreof 72 and a second round one-over par performance of 73.
"We played poorly in the first round," said UW headgolf coach Joe Jensen. "However, we came back in theafternoon and finished one-over par as a team, and improvednine shots. Anytime you shoot close to par as a team youknow your are competing."
"I am pleased to see our improvement in the afternoon,but we need to stay consistent," added Jensen. "We areplaying in a very good tournament, and we will be playing atanother good one this weekend in Fresno. So in order for usto finish this tournament strong we have to be moreconsistent."
Wichita State's Judd Easterling is the current individualleader of the tournament with a nine-under par performanceof 135. He leads Chris Stroud of Lamar by one stroke.
The 27th Annual Ernest F. Lied Wolfpack Classic is playedon the Wolf Run Golf Course in Reno, Nev. It plays to a 72par and measures at 7,100 yards. The third and final roundof the tournament will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 9:00a.m.
