Cowboy Golfers Finish 14th at the Ernest F. Lied Wolfpack Classic

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyomingmen's golf team completed competition at the Ernst F. LiedWolfpack Classic in Reno, Nev. The Pokes finished in 14thplace with a 20-over par final socre of 884. The Cowboysshot a nine-over par final round of 297. Wichita State leadsthe 18 team field with a two-round total of 564. Denver wonthe tournament team title with an 18-under par score of 846.

UW's junior Matthew Brunk finished the tournament with aone-over par total of 217. Brunk, from Ft. Collins, Colo.,fought back from shooting a first round four-over 76 tofinish the tournament with a third round four-underperformance of 68.

"Matthew shot a great final round," said UW head golfcoach Joe Jensen. "But we continue to play inconsistently.Everyone has played well at times this year, and that isencouraging but we need to bring it all together. I thinkour guys are getting some good experience playing at a greattournments like this one."

Utah's Garrett Clegg took home the individual title witha 11-under performance of 205. He edged out Hawaii'sMatthew Kodama by one stoke.

The 27th Annual Ernest F. Lied Wolfpack Classic was playedon the Wolf Run Golf Course in Reno, Nev. It plays to a 72par and measures at 7,100 yards.

The Cowboys will next be in action on Oct. 10 when theytravel to Fresno, Calif. for the Fresno State Lexus GolfClassic.
