Fresno, Calif. - The University ofWyoming men's golf team closed the final round of theFresno State Golf Classic Saturday by shooting a team scoreof 293 (+5) to end the tournament with an overall score of869 (+5) to place tenth. The Pokes shot a first round 292(+4) and a second round 284 (-4) on Friday. Colorado Statewon the team title with a total team score of 831 (-33).
UW sophomore Eric Baily, from Crofton, Neb., led the wayfor the Cowboys. Baily shot a first round two-over par 74and a four-under 68 second round on Friday. He thencompleted the tournament with a final round even par 72 totie for 21st place with an overall score of 214 (-2).
"We played pretty solid at this tournament," said UWhead golf coach Joe Jensen. "We had a frustrating finishbecause we were one-under par as a team with only a fewholes to go. However, overall I am pleased with the way wefinished out the fall season. A lot of the teams we beattoday have taken some top places at tournaments this fall,so that is very encouraging. We still need to play moreconsistently, and that is what we will work on for thespring."
The Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic marks the end of thefall season for the Cowboy golf team. The Pokes will be backin action March 19th, when the open the spring schedule atthe Arizona Steve Kerr Invite in Buckeye, Ariz.
