The University of Wyoming men's golf team hosts the 13th annual Cowboy Classic with a new look at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz. The Whirlwind Golf Club has two courses and the tournament will be held on The Cattail course which is par-72, 7,218-yard course. The event will play 54-holes over two days with 36 holes on Monday and a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday. Both mornings will begin with a shotgun start at 6:30 a.m. MT.
The field features 18 teams: Wyoming, UCSB, Colorado, Santa Clara, McNeese State, UC Davis, Gonzaga, Idaho, Air Force, Weber State, Southern Utah, UC Irvine, Long Beach, San Fancisco, James Madison, Western Kentucky, Utah State, UC Northridge. Five of the teams are in the top-100 of the Golfweek Rankings with Colorado leading the way at No. 46, UC Davis next at No. 62, followed by Idaho at No. 80, then McNeese State at No. 84 and Santa Clara at No. 97.
At this event last season the Cowboys finished 15th in the 21-team field with a tally of 876 (+73). Junior Kamrin Allen led the Pokes tying for 35th at 216 (+6). Sophomore Ryan Wallen followed tied for 59th, finishing with a 220 (+10). Senior Cameron Lindell, played as an individual, he finished with a 232 (+22) for the event.
Oklahoma won the 2014 Cowboy Classic team title with a total score of 831 (-9). BYU finished seven strokes behind with 838 (-2) for second place. Michael Gellerman of Oklahoma took the individual title at 204 (-6).
