Michael Mezei Signs With Wyoming Cowboy Golf Program

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming men's golfcoach Roger Prenzlow announced on Friday that Michael Mezei of Lethbridge,Alberta, has signed a national letter of intent with the Cowboy golf team.

Mezei, 5-10, 160 pounds, brings a number of accomplishments with himto Wyoming. He won the Alberta PGA Junior Master's title, and also placedfifth at the American Junior Golf Association Western Canadian Invitational.Mezei also was a member of the Alberta Provincial Team, which is comprisedof the top junior golfers from the province of Alberta. He also wasselected to the Alberta Junior America's Cup Team.

"Michael (Mezei) is the caliber of player who could come in and playfor us right away," said Prenzlow. "He has great fundamentals, is a veryintelligent young man and is very competitive. He has really showed a lotof improvement over the last couple of years, and we're extremely excitedhe's decided to become a Cowboy."

Mezei attended Winston Churchill High School in Lethbridge, Alberta.He plans on majoring in chemical engineering at UW. The son of Peggy andGerry Mezei, he was also recruited by the University of Louisville and theUniversity of Oregon.

Mezei will join two other Canadians on the Cowboy golf squad. DavidHearn of Brantford, Ontario, will be a senior this coming year, and KurtKowaluk of Lively, Ontario, will be a redshirt sophomore.
