University of Wyoming men's golfcoach Roger Prenzlow announced today that Matt Hart of Littleton, Colo.,will be joining the Cowboy golf team in the fall of 1999.
Hart, who played at Mullen High School in Denver, was the 1998Colorado Stroke-Play Champion. Hart also was a member of the state ofColorado's '98 Junior America's Cup Team, and was a qualifier for the 1998United States Golf Association (USGA) Junior Championships.
"Matt (Hart) will be a great addition to our program," saidPrenzlow. "He will be joining a relatively young group of guys here atWyoming -- a group that nearly qualified for the NCAA West Regional a yearago. I think Matt has an opportunity to contribute to our team next year asa true freshman. I look for him to make us a more competitive andconsistent team.
"Matt's selection as a member of the Junior America's Cup Team forColorado showed that he was one of the top four junior players in the entirestate of Colorado. Winning the Colorado Stroke-Play Championship was agreat accomplishment for him, as there were several players in Colorado lastyear who went on to earn (NCAA) Division I scholarships."
Hart was also recruited by Colorado State, Denver and Marquette.Born Dec. 28, 1980, he is the son of Julie and Scott Hart. His dad, Scott,is the golf pro at Wellshire Golf Club in Denver. Matt plans on majoring inbusiness.
