Laramie, Wyo. -

The Wyoming Cowboy golf team tees off 2013-14 season on Monday and Tuesday at the Battle in the Tetons at the Headwater Golf Club in Teton Springs Resort in Victor, Idaho. The Cowboys and senior Eddie Stewart look to defend their crowns as Wyoming took the team title and Stewart took the individual title shooting eight-under par, as his mark ranked as the third best tournament score in school history.

Last Season at the Battle of the Tetons, UW shot 17-under, the best team tournament score in school history. The team victory was the first team title in head coach Joe Jensen's tenure at Wyoming. It was also the first tournament victory for Wyoming since the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate in 2000.

The Cowboys return five golfers from last season. Senior Brent Baylon is Wyoming's top returner as he recorded a stroke average of 74.93 per round. Stewart and Karmin Allen will also look to build off of strong campaigns a season ago as Stewart averaged 75.25 strokes per round and Allen averaged 75.20 strokes per round as a freshman. Senior Eric Parish will also add to the depth of the Cowboys this season along with P.J. Thomas.

Wyoming also added three newcomers in Cameron Lindell, Arron Lickteig and Ryan Wallen. Lindell looks to make an immediate impact for the Cowboys after earning All-American honors at Tyler Junior College. Lickteig, a freshman joins UW after a successful high school career in Marion, South Dakota. Ryan Wallen another freshman joins the Cowboys after a successful high school career at Blaine High School in Washington state as he won an individual state title his sophomore season.

UW will play in five tournaments during the fall season and head to Colorado Springs, Colo. to take part in the USAF Gene Miranda Invitational next Sunday and Monday.
