Wyoming won six of the last eightmatches on their way to a 27-13 victory over Southern Colorado inPueblo, Colo., on Saturday.
The Cowboys fell behind 7-0, but rebounded to win the next four matchesto take a commanding 18-7 lead. After losses in the 184 and 197 poundweight classes, Wyoming won the last two matches to preserve thevictory.
Wyoming heavyweight Brad Steele recorded the only pin of the day whenhe defeated Doug Smith at 2:22. The fall gave UW a 24-13 lead with onlyone match remaining. With the win, Steele moved his record to 19-12 onthe season.
Senior Steven Schenk recorded a technical fall in his 174 pound matchby defeating Phil Dawes 16-0 at 4:30. Schenk, who has been in and outof the national rankings all year, pushed his record to 17-11. FreshmanLevi Prevost had an impressive victory at 157 pounds by recording amajor decision over Vail Minn 14-2.
Mark Hamrick won his 19th match of the year with an 8-2 victory overSam Melendrez at 149 pounds. Hamrick, a junior, leads the Cowboys withhis 19 wins.
