Cowboys Fall Hard to #9 Missouri

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The No. 9 Missouri Tigers handed theUniversity of Wyoming wrestling team its sixth loss of the season with a39-0 blowout Sunday in Columbia, Mo. The third dual in only two days provedto be to much for the Pokes who came up short in all ten matches to theTigers.

Ninth-ranked Missouri started the dual with a 4-0 victory by Mark Baderover freshman Bryce Leonhardt. In the 133 pound match Cowboy Tyson Shattocame up short against Chris McCormick 5-3, as the Tigers took an early leadthat they would not give up.

In the 141 pound match junior Blake Gunter was pinned by J.P. Resse, ranked10th in Division I. Seventh-ranked Jeremy Spates defeated Cowboy PatrickShuler via a 11-3 major decision in the 149 pound bout. At 157 pounds AndrewShuler fell to Kenny Burleson 9-4.

The 165 pound match featured two of the top wrestlers in the nation at theweight class in sixth ranked Tyron Woodley of Missouri and 12th ranked LeviPrevost of Wyoming. It was the third meeting between the two both won byWoodley at the Las Vegas Invite. Woodley made it three victories overPrevost with a 9-1 major decision.

Junior Trevor Murray came up short against Matt Turner 5-2 in the 174pound match. At 184 pounds freshman Sam Wendland faced a tough task againstAll-American Scott Barker. Barker's 15-3 major decision increased the Tigerslead to 30-0. Junior Kevin Kessner, ranked 18th, faced 20th ranked DanteStone in the 197 pound bout. In one of the toughest matches of the afternoonKessner came up short to Stone 3-2.

In the heavyweight match senior Brad Steele, ranked 19th, battled14th-ranked Kevin Herron. Herron defeated Steele by pin in 3:53. The pinmade the final score 39-0 in favor of the Tigers.

The Cowboys look to bounce back from the loss against Portland State intheir last dual at the Multipurpose Gym in Laramie on Feb. 15th at 7 p.m.
