University of Wyoming junior Dusty Hoffschneider and sophomore Gary Dack finished their seasons Friday at the NCAA National Tournament in St. Louis, Mo. Both wrestlers went into the day with records of 1-1 in the tournament, but fell in their first bouts of the day.

Hoffschneider faced the #12 seed Dustin Fox from Northwestern in the heavyweight division. It was a hard fought match with the score tied at one heading into overtime. In overtime, Hoffschneider fought off some aggressive offensive moves early before Fox was finally able to score a takedown at the 7:46 mark. Hoffschneider ended his season with an overall record of 7-3, four of those wins coming by fall.

"Dusty went out there and fought hard the entire match," said UW head coach Steven Suder. "He had a good year and made the most of a shortened season due to injury."

Dack also faced the #12 seed at 165 pounds in Mike Patrovich of Hofstra. Dack was not able to get things going and lost to Patrovich in a 14-1 major decision. The Arvada, Colo. native finished the season with the best record on the team of 22-14, six of the wins by pin.

"Gary may have wrestled better in this tournament than he did all year, but it was just that the competition was so much better here," said Suder.

"Both Gary and Dusty faced some tough guys today, but they fought hard and I am proud of these guys."

The Pokes finished the season with a dual record of 7-9, but will not lose any wrestlers to graduation and will return their entire young lineup next year.
