Cowboy Wrestlers Compete At NCAA Championships

Kansas City, Missouri - Junior Levi Prevost was the only Cowboy wrestler to win his opening match at the 2003 NCAA Wrestling Championships, on Thursday, in Kansas City, Missouri.

At 165 pounds, Prevost earned a 12-6 victory over Matt Ellis of Oregon State to move on and face Matt Palmer of Columbia in his upcoming match. In his 157 pound match, Andrew Shuler fell to Matt Lebe of West Virginia, 6-3, and will face Amir Khan of Rutgers in the consolation bracket. Junior Kevin Kessner lost his opening 197 pound match 5-3 to Kyle Smith of Michigan and will now battle Stipe Miocic of Cleveland State. Finally, senior Brad Steele battled with Garrett Lowney of Minnesota, but fell short 9-4 in his heavyweight match. He will face Tomas Rodriguez of Kent State in his consolation match.

Prevost will wrestle tomorrow, while the other three Cowboys will continue tonight. The NCAA Wrestling Championships will run through Saturday March 22.
