The regular-season finale features a tough matchup for the University of Wyoming wrestling team, as the Cowboys hit the road to face conference leader North Dakota State on Friday in Fargo, N.D.

The details
Action begins from the Bison Sports Center at 6 p.m. MT Friday. The Cowboys will clash with No. 19 NDSU for the 14th time in program history. The Bison are the seventh team to appear in the national polls that Wyoming has faced this year.

A look at the Cowboys
Winners of four-straight duals, the Cowboys (5-6 overall, 3-1 Western Wrestling Conference) look primed for the postseason already. But they won't look too far ahead, as they have their sights set on the regular-season dual title in the WWC. They'll need a win in the final outing to have a shot at that.

Five Pokes are in the national polls this week, including a group of four juniors: Tyler Cox (eighth at 125 pounds), Andy McCulley (24th at 157), Dakota Friesth (18th at 165) and Shane Woods, who is 24th at 197. Redshirt freshman Benjamin Stroh is 15th at 184.

A look at the Bison
NDSU is 10-6 overall, but leads the WWC with a 3-0 mark. Notable wins this year included upsets of Boise State and Oregon State, and victories over league foes Northern Colorado, Utah Valley and Air Force.

Senior Steven Monk leads the charge for the Bison, ranked third in the nation at 165. Sophomore Hayden Zillmer is 12th at 174 and junior Kurtis Julson is 18th at 184.

Last time/series history
In the last meeting between the squads, the Bison upset the Pokes on Jan. 27, 2013, in Laramie with a 22-15 win. UW has wrestled NDSU 13 times in history with a mark of 8-5. The series began in 1990 when the Bison were an NCAA Division II squad.
