The picture for the 2013 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships got a little clearer Wednesday, as the NCAA released the brackets for the national tournament March 21-23 in Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
After six University of Wyoming wrestlers earned automatic bids to the event at the NCAA West Regional, the selection committee announced Wednesday that another, sophomore Andy McCulley, had earned an at-large spot, bringing UW's total to seven.
Each weight class features 33 wrestlers, and the NCAA seeds the top 12 in each class and draws in the remaining wrestlers. Two Cowboys were given seeds, including senior Alfonso Hernandez, the No. 4 seed at 197 pounds, and sophomore Tyler Cox, the No. 12 seed at 125.
Here's a breakdown of the first-round opponent for each of Wyoming's seven NCAA qualifiers:
125 pounds: No. 12-seed sophomore Tyler Cox (31-8) vs. Nick Soto (Chattanooga, 27-6)
