LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming wrestling coach Steven Suder announced today the signing of three more high school student athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2007-08 season.

Evan Mattingly, 197 pounds, from Vashon Island, Wash., Shane Onifer, 165/174 pounds, from Auburn Wash., and Chase Smith, 141 pounds, from Enumclaw, Wash. will join the Cowboys for the upcoming season.

Evan Mattingly, 197 pounds, Vashon Island, Wash. (Vashon Island High School)
Mattingly was a two-time Washington State Champion and a Junior College National Champion in 2007.

"Evan will be counted on immediately and after a good Junior College career we are comfortable with his readiness to step right in. Evan really seemed to fit in well with the team and the coaching staff," Suder said.

Shane Onifer, 165/174 pounds, Auburn, Wash. (Auburn High School)
Onifer was a two-time state champion and was a Cadet Freestyle Nationals All-American. He was ranked #4 in the nation for all 171 pound high school wrestlers by intermatwrestle.com.

"Shane may be one of the more accomplished signees that we have had in a while. Two State Championships (Jr. and Sr. years) and a double H.S. All American as a junior is impressive stuff. No matter what there are still plenty of adjustments to make, we believe the athletic ones won't take long," Suder said.

Chase Smith, 141 pounds, Enumclaw, Wash. (Enumclaw High School)
Smith was a Washington State Champion and a Cadet Freestlye Nationals All-American.

"We just feel like Chase is the whole package. He competes and trains year round, is a great student, has been well coached and comes to our family from a great family and support system. Chase seems like the kind if guy that we want around our athletes," Suder said.
