LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming head wrestling coach Steven Suder announced Wednesday the signing of Daniel Barrone of El Prado, NM, to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wyoming in the fall.

Barrone earned All-District and All-State accolades his senior year while posting an overall record of 119-12 during high school. At the2002 Rocky Mountain National Collegiant Tournament, Barrone wrestled to a first place finish in the 140 pound weight division and then a first place finish at the 2004 regional in the 160 weight division. A graduate of Taos High School, he was a honor student by finishing with a 3.67 G.P.A.

"I really enjoyed my time during my visit to Laramie," said Barrone. "I was impressed with their wrestling program and also the engineering department. It was tough finding both top level programs at one place. It was a perfect fit."

"After following Dan over the past we liked him more and more and when we got the chance to know him it became obvious that he is the caliber of person that we want in this program," said Wyoming head wrestling coach Steven Suder. "Dan will add some needed depth to our middle weights."

Barrone is the fifth student-athlete to sign a letter of intent with the Cowboy wrestling program this season.
