Unbeaten Cowboys Host Nebraska In Weekend Dual

The University of Wyoming wrestling program hosts its second dual in as many weeks when the Pokes take on the seventh-ranked Nebraska Huskers on Sunday in the UniWyo Sports Complex.

Last meeting
On Dec. 10, 2011, the Cowboys dropped a close dual on the road to the 21st-ranked Cornhuskers, 19-15. No. 14 Wyoming earned four wins in front of a crowd of 836 at Nebraska Coliseum, but couldn't overcome the Huskers on their home mat. Current Cowboys who earned wins include seniors Kasey Garnhart and Alfonso Hernandez, along with sophomore Zach Zehner.

About Nebraska
The Cowboys have faced the Huskers 46 times in history, tallying a 14-32 record in a series dating back to 1951. UW head coach Mark Branch is 1-2 versus Nebraska.

The Huskers are led by Mark Manning, who enters his 13th season. He has compiled a record of 164-65-3 at Nebraska. UW has started 1-0 for the third time in the last six seasons after earning a win over Boise State 26-12 on Nov. 1 to open the season. Branch, now in his fifth year, has won 49 duals. The Cowboys are ranked 23rd in InterMat and 25th in WIN Magazine polls.

Two Cowboy wrestlers are ranked by InterMat, including sophomore Tyler Cox and senior Alfonso Hernandez. Cox is 18th at 125 pounds and Hernandez is fourth at 197.
