Cowboy Wrestling Program Signs Gary Dack

University of Wyoming headwrestling coach Steven Suder has announced the signing of Gary Dack ofPomona High School in Lakewood, Colo., to a national letter-of-intent.

Dack is a two-time Colorado State 5A Champion, winning the 140 poundtitle his sophomore season and the 152 pound title his junior season.His junior year he compiled a record of 46-4 and helped Pomona to itssecond consecutive state team title.

Entering his senior campaign, Dack has an overall record of 114-13 forPomona head coach Tom Beeson. Dack had been named to the All-State teamtwo times and was named All-Colorado his junior season.

In tournament action Dack has also proven to be very successful. Heplaced fifth at the Reno Tournament of Champions his junior year, second(Greco-Roman) and third (freestyle) at the Rocky Mountain Regionals andfifth at the Western Regionals his sophomore year.

"We think that we signed one of the better wrestlers in the state ofColorado," said Wyoming head wrestling coach Steven Suder. "Gary is aguy that we're very familiar with. We've been watching him for a fewyears and feel he is a real good fit for our program. He's had a verysuccessful career and comes from a high quality program. We areextremely excited to have Gary and are expecting big things from him."

A three-year letterman in wrestling, he also earned two letters infootball. Dack is projected to wrestle at either 157 or 165 pounds forthe Cowboys.

"I've always looked at going to Wyoming to wrestle," said Dack. "I'mextremely excited to go up to Laramie and wrestle for coach Suder andthe Cowboys. Wyoming is a solid program with an excellent coachingstaff and I feel it is a program on the rise."
