Wyoming's Carter Downing Named WWC Wrestler of the Week

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -

University of Wyoming junior wrestler Carter Downing has been named the Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week as announced by league officials.

The junior 141-pounder from Woodruff, Utah won both of his matches thispast weekend. Downing defeated Ryan Etherton of Nebraska-Kearney bymajor decision 10-2, then collected Wyoming's only win against theUniversity of Nebraska by wrestling up a weight and defeating RobPlambeck by major decision 13-4. Downing is now 13-5 on the year withfive major decisions and two technical falls. He leads Wyoming invictories, major decisions and technical falls.

The Western Wrestling Conference is comprised of seven schools includingthe Air Force Academy, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, NorthernIowa, South Dakota State, Utah Valley State and Wyoming.
