Jan. 19, 2006

Periodically during the 2005-06 season a different former UW Cowgirl basketball player will be featured. She will be asked to answer a variety of questions and will provide information on what has happened in her life since her playing days at Wyoming.

On each current Cowgirl locker is a placard that lists their jersey number, followed by the names of all former Cowgirls who have worn that number. Above is an example.

A three-time letterwinner for the Cowgirls, she played in 96 games during her career and still ranks seventh all-time in rebounding with 770.

A 1980 graduate of the University of Wyoming, DaleAnn earned a Bachelors Degree in Education while playing four seasons for the Cowgirls. Since graduation, she has been raising her family, teaching and coaching. DaleAnn has coached for 23 years with 21 of those years spent on the basketball court. She retired from coaching two years ago after spending the last 15 years as the head coach of the Powell Lady Panthers. She continues to teach at Powell Middle School and coach middle school track.

With her spare time since retiring from basketball, DaleAnn enjoys scuba diving, trap and skeet shooting, and traveling has also become her new passion.

The 1978-79 Cowgirl Basketball team that finished 25-7 and played in the AIAW Regional Tournament. DaleAnn (Feusner) Meeker is second from the right in the bottom row.

Originally from Powell, Wyoming, she still lives there today with her husband Michael, who works for Marathon Ashland Pipeline in Powell. She has two children, Alycia and Nick. Alycia is married and is a second year optometry student at Pacific University, while Nick is an engineering major at the University of Wyoming.

What affect did playing basketball have on your life?
"Basketball had a huge impact on my life. I loved it and dedicated a large part of my life to it. The people were most important, the discipline, and the pride I felt each time I put on my uniform. I received the first basketball scholarship for women at UWYO and consider myself a pioneer in Wyoming Women's Basketball. I will be a Cowgirl FOREVER! It has been such a privilege to be a part of Wyoming Athletics."

Favorite Wyoming Memory:
"My favorite memory was my entire experience at the University of Wyoming but I would have to narrow it down to my teammates. They each had a huge impact on me. Respect for my coaches, especially Coach McDonald and all the hard work we all put into our dream of playing competitive Division I basketball."
