SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Lauren Beckman had 19 points and nine rebounds as No.24 Utah survived a sluggish second half to beat Wyoming 54-48 Saturday.
Utah (16-2, 4-0 Mountain West) led by as many as 14 points in the first halfand 36-26 at halftime after shooting 52 percent. But the Utes struggled afterthe break against Wyoming's full-court press and zone defense.
Utah shot 1-of-8 to open the second half and Wyoming (8-8, 0-3) used a 9-2run to get within 38-35. Reserve forward Jessica Gibbs hit a jumper to give theCowgirls a 44-43 lead with about five minutes to play.
At that point the Utes, who shot 1-of-12 from 3-point range, abandoned theperimeter offense and went to an inside attack, producing an 11-4 run to endthe game.
Gibbs led the Cowgirls with 11 points and seven rebounds while Lisa McCannscored 10 and had nine rebounds.
Amy Ewert scored 11 and Kristina Andersen had 10 for the Utes, who have wonfive straight and beaten Wyoming 19 consecutive times.
