Cowgirl Basketball Loses at Tulsa

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team was on the road Thursday, February 4, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a conference game with the University of Tulsa.

Despite keeping the game fairly close in the first half, down 42-31 at the break, the Cowgirls could not make a run in the second half and ended up losing 74-59.

Wyoming was led by freshman forward Carrie Bacon who had a team high 28 points. Jenny Lazzeri and Rebecca Tomlin also chipped in 12 points apiece.

Tulsa had five players score in double figures, led by center Shequinna Dinkens who scored 19 points.

Three-point shooting was a key to the game, as UW struggled from beyond the arc, shooting only 12%, hitting two of 17 shots. Tulsa, on the other hand, shot 31% and hit five of 16 three-pointers.

The next game for the Cowgirls will be Saturday, February 6, when UW faces Rice University in Houston, Texas, at 1:00 p.m.
