The University of Wyoming women's basketball team made several second half scoring runs, but could not overcome a 13-point halftime lead by SMU and ended up falling to the Mustangs 76-67.
The loss on Thursday night, February 11, in Laramie, Wyoming, drops UW's overall record to 6-15, 2-8 in WAC play. SMU now moves to 12-9 overall, 7-2 in the WAC.
Wyoming was led in scoring by Shelby Hoffman who had a career high 25 points. Hoffman was 7/10 from beyond the three-point arc, setting a new Arena record for made three-point field goals in a game.
Wyoming, as a team, also set a new Arena record with 12 three-point field goals in the game.
Carrie Bacon added 16 points and eight rebounds for UW, and Jenny Lazzeri had 11 points and 10 boards.
Leading the Mustangs was Nici Johnson with 18 points and Karlin Kennedy with 17 points.
Turnovers were a key to the game as UW had 22, compared to SMU's 12.
