After holding an 11-point halftime lead, the Wyoming basketball team struggled from the field and with turnovers in the second half as they lost 61-53, against the Boise State, on Saturday afternoon. The Cowgirls are now 11-15 overall and 7-6 in Mountain West play while Boise State moves to 14-14 overall and 5-8 in league action.
"Chaundra had a monster of a game with 27 points and 15 rebounds," said head coach Joe Legerski. "We challenged her to step up and she responded. Thought Kaitlyn had a tremendous floor game, shot the ball well and controlled the tempo. We now have to turn our attention to TCU and get this group ready to play again."
Chaundra Sewell finished with her 11th double-double of the season recording 27 points and a career high 15 rebounds. She was followed by Kaitlyn Mileto with ten points and Kayla Woodward with nine points. The Cowgirls were 20-48 (.417) from the field and 9-26 (.563) from the free throw line, while turning the ball over 25 times.
Boise State was led by Kinzi Poteet with 18 points and five rebounds. She was followed by Kati Isham with 16 points in her 37 minutes of play. They were 25-70 (.357) from the field and finished with 36 points in the paint and 26 points off turnovers.
Wyoming started off with five quick points in the first minute of the game with baskets from Chaundra Sewell and Kaitlyn Mileto. The Broncos got on the board with a field goal from Katie Isham. Another score by the Cowgirls gave them a five point lead, 7-2, heading into the first media timeout. Boise State went almost five minutes before a three-point field goal Isham started a 5-0 run for the Broncos to pull them even at seven all. Wyoming responded with six straight points by Kayla Woodward to put the Cowgirls ahead by six, 13-7. They would extend that lead to double-figures, 20-10, with a 7-3 run. A free throw by Isham stopped another scoring drought by Boise State, but a basket from Sewell made the score, 22-11, with seven minutes left in the half. Both teams would score six points each to close out the half as Wyoming took a 28-17 lead into the lockerroom.

The Cowgirls shot 12-23 (.522) from the field and 4-10 (.400) from beyond the arc. Boise State was led by Kati Isham with nine points. Lauren Lenhardt recorded a team high three rebounds. The Broncos shot 7-31 (.226) from the field and 2-5 (.400) from beyond the arc.
Out of the break each team scored baskets early as the Cowgirls maintained that double figure lead until 6-1 run by the Broncos pulled them to within six, 33-27. Free throws from Sewell and Woodward ended a three-minute drought for Wyoming to put the back up by nine, 36-27. Boise State answered with four straight to close the gap to five, 36-31, with 12 minutes remaining in the game. A three-point play from Sewell coming out of the media timeout helped the Cowgirls regain a nine point advantage, 40-31, and ended a seven minute drought from the field. The Broncos continued to chip away as they scored nine of the next ten to close the gap to one, 41-40. A huge basket by Kaitlyn Mileto on the next possession would start a 6-2 run for the Cowgirls to help them regain a 47-42 advantage with seven minutes left in the game. Five straight points by BSU evened it all up at 47 all but a basket by Alison Gorrell gave Wyoming a two point lead, 49-47. The Broncos stormed back with a basket by Poteet and a three-point play by Heather Pilcher giving Boise State their first lead of the game, 52-49. Sewell would score a field goal on the next possession to make it 52-51 and then two free throws gave Wyoming a 53-52 lead with 2:29 left. Isham hit one of two free throws to tie the score at 53 all. Each team had chances until the first basket by Lauren Lenhardt put Boise State up 55-53 with one minute remaining. Wyoming had a couple of opportunities but ended up having to foul down the stretch as the Broncos earned the 61-53 victory.
Wyoming will close out the regular conference season on Tuesday, Feb. 28, against the TCU Horned Frogs. The game is set to start at 5:30 p.m. MT.
