LARAMIE, Wyo. - *San Diego State at Wyoming - Wyoming 73-59 - Box Score
In dominating fashion, the WyomingCowgirl Basketball Team closed out the regular season with a 73-59victory over the San Diego State Aztecs, on Saturday afternoon.
The Cowgirls came out on fire from the beginning of the game, buildinga 10-2 early lead. They continued to build on that score taking theirlargest lead of the half at 33-15 with seven and a half minutes to go.They eventually took a 37-26 advantage into the break behind tenpoints and five rebounds by junior Christy Bacon.
Their dominance carried over into the second half, with greatdefense and sharp shooting. They gained their biggest lead of 25points after two free throws by Shelby Hoffman with nine minutes left inthe game. Despite a late run by the Aztecs, the Cowgirls went on tothe 73-59 victory.
The Aztecs were led by Jamey Cox, who finished with a team high 21points. Anita Bundage was the top rebounder with seven. The Aztecs were22-53 (.418) from the field and 6-19 (.316) from beyond the arc.
The Cowgirls finished the night with four players in double-figures.Senior Jessica Gibbs finished with her ninth double-double of the seasonwith 21 points and 11 rebounds. Shelby Hoffman also finished her daywith 16 points. The Cowgirls shot 46% (30-66) from the field, andoutrebounded San Diego State, 35-31.
